Calvin Dirickson Releases Memoir, PURPLE ROBIN

In "Purple Robin" (published by Trafford Publishing), Calvin Dirickson's new memoir, readers are treated to a glimpse into one man's wide-ranging experiences in a life of interesting twists and turns.

Dirickson was born in extreme poverty during the Great Depression, and he lived in poverty throughout his childhood. He would eventually join the U.S. Navy and serve for four years. At some point in his life, Dirickson would begin to take notice of odd visions he would have. He likened these visions to dreaming while awake, and found them to be profound, vivid and somewhat frightening.

An excerpt from "Purple Robin":

"What force within me was causing these visions? Was it God, the devil or something or someone else? I had to reach back to my beginning and analyze my life. I have no control over this unknown forces when it coming and goes. It seemed to warn me of coming disasters, except for the time when I was apparently having dreams about the Purple Robin. I wonder what will be in store for me during the rest of my life."

From poverty, to military service, to mysterious visions, to a passion for writing, Dirickson has lived a fulfilling life. "My life has been unique," he explains. "I raised my two children myself. About the Author
Calvin Dirickson was born in 1938 and his early childhood was spent in stark poverty during the Great Depression. He grew up and graduated high school in Qulin, Miss., a small farming town. The next big step in his life was a tour in the U.S. Navy, two years in a pilot training squadron in Corpus Christi, Texas. He spent his last two years in the Navy's Fleet Intelligence Unit for Europe. Dirickson took creative writing courses while stationed in Corpus Christi. He retired from Florida State University at the age of 63.
