CPS HR Consulting Gives the Gift of Reading at 12th Annual Children's Book Drive

This year, CPS HR Consulting set a goal of 3,000 total collected books for its 12^th Annual Children's Book Drive, which benefits the River Oak Center for Children. The public sector-focused human resources consulting firm exceeded its goal by 2,131, collecting a total of 5,131 donated books. Since 2006, a total of 35,811 books have been donated to benefiting organizations. Partnerships that contributed to this year's drive included Ultimate Staffing, Harry Dewey Fundamental Elementary School, Chipotle on 1729 Howe Ave., JC Paper, M/C/C and the Sacramento River Cats.

"We would like to thank everyone who participated," said Jerry Greenwell, CEO of CPS HR. "It is an amazing feeling knowing we are making a positive influence on thousands of children. Giving a book to a child not only impacts their minds today, but gives them a chance at a brighter future tomorrow."

This tradition began in 2006 as part of a city-wide children's book drive led by a local newspaper. That year, CPS HR was able to collect more than 1,450 books. CPS HR continued the book drive and in 2009, began researching local non-profits to donate the books to and found that River Oak Center for Children was a great match.

River Oak Center for Children helps children and youth who need support, coaching and treatment to thrive in school, at home and in the community. Through strength-based and evidence-based programs, River Oak strengthens children, youth and families to manage life's challenges and achieve their full potential.
