"A rich tapestry of thought on how humanity has managed its relationships. - an excellent starting point for productive discussions about Earth's future," reviews Foreword Clarion, awarding Kenyon Wright's new book Cosmic Crisis and Creation: The Search for Meaning (published by AuthorHouse) 4 stars out of 5. Wright's groundbreaking work offers the following two assertions: first, life in the 21st century is threatened by an unprecedented global crisis, which is the result of the exponential increase in the impact of human activity on the Earth; and second, when properly understood, the Christian concepts of creation and of human relationships based on God's covenant, offer the clearest light on the meaning and nature of, and effective response to, the crisis, and the most realistic hope for the future.
In his book, Wright argues from both secular and religious points of view, using quotes and excerpts from such scientists as Einstein and such sources as the Bible. Throughout all of it, though, he guides a theme of questioning that he hopes will bring readers to ponder the importance of life on Earth. An excerpt from Cosmic Crisis and Creation:
Why are we here? Why are we able, alone of all creatures, to think consciously about the meaning of things? There are only two possible answers. Either because we are the result of a quite incredibly and breathtakingly lucky chance, or because there is a mind, an intelligence, a purpose behind it all. Either we live in a self-originated, random, accidental, ultimately meaningless universe without purpose or destiny, or we are conscious, albeit often dimly, of a purpose which is not limited to the passing hopes and fears of our short lives.
In the end, Wright hopes his readers will find a "...clearer understanding of how climate change and other changes will affect their lives, and a greater understanding of the Christian message for today in a way that overcomes the caricature of that message by the so-called 'creationists.'"
