CABOT, Ark.

Author Patrick D'Andrea gives a look into New York's Italian Mafia with his new crime thriller, "Cosa Nostra: The Next Generation of Mafioso" (published by Lulu).

"Cosa Nostra" (meaning "our thing") is a term used by the Italian mafia to refer to their organization. D'Andrea explores organized crime in Brooklyn and Manhattan with Tommy, Sal and Carmine. These three childhood friends have guarded over one another their entire life. Readers will enter the world of mafia folklore and ritual as the three friends protect one another from all odds.

D'Andrea says that this book does not rely on stereotypical mafia characters, but rather looks at the future of organized crime. It is his hope that the fast pace and intense tone of "Cosa Nostra" will make it a book readers can't put down.

An excerpt from "Cosa Nostra":

"Mikey stopped complaining about the kids when he noticed headlights of a large SUV coming slowly down the street toward us. We took our place in the shadows of the alley and waited to see if they were turning in. We reached inside our jackets and gripped our pistols. In our business, we needed to watch out for setups."
