SOLANA BEACH, Calif.

Berge Minasian follows up his first book, "The Power of Choice," with a second installment exhorting his readers to "Choose to Thrive" (published by Xlibris). His guide to success emphasizes the importance of making the right choices in life. To do this, it examines historical and cultural developments in the United States to identify the factors that led the nation to its golden age and the changes he believes are causing its decline.

Minasian laments what he sees as the loss of American society's moral compass, the downward spiral of society associated with rising divorce rates and the erosion of traditional values and traditional social structures. In the face of the problems plaguing the present and a bleak outlook for the future, he looks back to the bright days of yesteryear for solutions that individuals - and the nation as a whole - can use to turn the situation around. He uses the Greatest Generation's achievements and their establishment of the post-WWII golden age as the blueprint for the rebirth of American society. For Minasian, by reclaiming the good old fashioned "can do" attitude and restoring vital public services like education, the United States can regain its place as the leader of the free world.

According to the author, all of this begins at an individual level - by getting rid of the sense of entitlement, by controlling habits, resisting subliminal suggestions and thriving in the job environment, a person can make a difference and believe in his or her own ability to do so. Minasian urges his readers to "Choose to Thrive."
