"Equine therapy is growing in popularity for its healing qualities," writes author Elizabeth Wiley. "I have worked in this field and developed new programs for 30 years."

In her new book, "Carousel Horse: Keiry: Equine Therapy Champion" (published by Trafford Publishing), Wiley draws on her 30 years of experience to tell the story of a young woman whose life is changed when she begins equine therapy and experiences its therapeutic benefits.

"Carousel Horse is a fourth-grade inclusionary book which can be used to educate children about people whom Wiley calls "other-abled". It plays dual roles as part novel, part screenplay, including readers in the possibilities of equine therapy.

The story centers on Keiry, a young woman injured in a car accident who discovers equine therapy and uses it to change her life. It also features Wiley's own real-life experiences volunteering in and directing equine therapy centers while recovering from her own serious brain injuries.

Proceeds from "Carousel Horse" will be donated to the National Homes for Heroes/Spirit Horse II to raise funds for housing and new therapeutic riding programs for veterans and high-risk youths. Wiley invites readers to visit http://www.bluepearlproject.org for more information on the programs.
