Rev. Catherine Wright Mathis portrays a young girl's search for self-discovery with her new book, "Can You Help Me Find Me" (published by Trafford Publishing). With its vibrant illustrations and introspective narrative, it takes readers on a journey within themselves, just as how she herself found her inner child, something that she believes exist within people no matter how old they are.

Mathis' story follows a child who sees her shadow for the first time on the ground and becomes intrigued as to what it is. She is surprised to hear her mother say that it was her. The little girl cannot believe what she had just heard and sets out to find the other person that her mama said was her. As she wanders around, she meets the policeman and Johnny, who play a part in trying to understand what it was that she had lost. Readers will see how Johnny helps her find herself and come to terms with her expanded concept of selfhood.

"It's a safe book, that teaches the values of where one would go if they were really seeking for someone that is lost." Mathis says. "That if you look long enough we too can find ourselves."
