As C. A. Wyatt grew up in the period of sex, drugs and rock and roll, he found himself craving acceptance in the form of drugs and alcohol. Now, in "Out of Numbness: A Story of Addiction and Recovery" (published by Archway Publishing), Wyatt shares his personal journey through addiction and his path to recovery.
Even after he began a promising career as an aerospace engineer, his self-destructive habits led him to endless nights of clubbing and drug use. "Out of Numbness" reveals how he pulled himself out of the throes of that addiction through his search for a spiritual solution in recovery.
Noticing that many books on the subject of addiction are psychological studies or 12-step programs, he wanted to present a real and raw account of one addict's struggles. "The book is also intended to familiarize the reader with the inner workings of the mind of an addict and subjects related to addiction- such as codependence, enabling, relapse, suicide, and contraction of illnesses sexually and intravenously," Wyatt explains.
He hopes that readers will come away with "a good understanding of addiction and recovery."
