'Bruh Beaver, Bruh Rabbit and the Man in the Moon' Picture Book is Released

Clever protagonists who use their wits instead of their brawn have always been a favorite in stories for both adults and children alike, showing the value of quick thinking as they slip out of sticky situations and run circles around their slower-witted pursuers. In line with this a book titled "Bruh Beaver, Bruh Rabbit and the Man in the Moon" by Dawn and Dellaphine Chitty shares a trickster tale that will indeed fascinate both the young and young-at-heart.

Compelling, this book presents one of the most famous literary contributions of the African-American culture, the trickster tales. These tales feature a clever and devious animal whose pranks usually cause trouble for another character. These tricksters usually outwitted the larger and more dominant animals. When Africans were brought to the Americas as slaves, the animals in these stories were adapted to feature those that the slaves saw in the United States and in the Caribbean.

"Bruh Beaver, Bruh Rabbit and the Man in the Moon" introduces two animal characters whose power struggles eventually lead them to an intriguing location. One of them is sent to get a load of cheese, believed to be sitting at the bottom of the well. But with persuasion and trickery, he is able to walk out of the slippery situation and lead the other into a bad fall. Readers will be thrilled to find out how one seemingly weak animal can gain leverage by the mere use of cunning wit and strategy.

About the Authors
Dawn Chitty is currently the Director of Education at the African American Civil War Museum in Washington DC. She has a background in Anthropology and Education. Her interest and familial ties to folktale stories led her to co-author her first children´s book "Bruh Beaver Bruh Rabbit and the Man in the Moon."

Dellaphine Chitty is a native of South Carolina. She has worked in the field of Information Technology for the past twenty-plus years and is currently a Senior Consultant with MAX IT Healthcare, a healthcare consulting firm. She learned the folktale stories from her own grandmother and mother and hopes to share them with children everywhere.
