DENTON, Texas
Announcing his return to the literary scene, Brian A. Hurd once again treats fiction lovers to an artfully orchestrated story. This time, he explores themes of the undead and an unlikely hero becoming his nation's only hope for survival. "Rise of the Dead Prince" (published by Xlibris) is a tale that serves as primary testament to the author's conviction that heroes can appear even from the most unexpected of places.
This is a story about a young prince who goes from being an insignificant loser, to national hero, to feared pariah, and finally to the unsung final hope for the living. A hideous plague kills him and two thirds of the population and raises them as mindless undead; but he alone rises with his sentience intact. Along with his resurrection, a certain trait that only comes around every millennium resurfaces - the ability to use the darkest and destructive kinds of magic. In order to save his people, he needs to learn how to fight fire with fire and take out the undisputed master of those powers - the architect of his country's destruction.
A classic and epic tale of struggle against overwhelming odds, "The Rise of the Dead Prince" is a compelling narrative filled with action and adventure, poignant and often humorous dialogue, and deep character development.
"The tale is full of slowly revealed mysteries and intrigue as separate lines of the plot converge," Hurd adds, "It's captivating, exciting, easy to relate to, and entertaining from beginning to end."
