Yet another feature film was partially funded on Kickstarter this past week, as fans of the novel "Carrie Pilby" by Caren Lissner flock to the crowdfunding campaign page in hopes of helping experienced filmmakers, Suzanne Farwell, Susan Cartsonis and Susan Johnson, bring the critically acclaimed novel to the big screen.

On June 12, the trio of women launched a Kickstarter campaign for Carrie Pilby, the movie, and set the project's funding goal at $51,650. The team immediately felt the support of the novel's fans through fan videos posted throughout the social stratosphere. On Vimeo, YouTube, Facebook and Kickstarter, the filmmakers began to notice how much the fans were genuinely interested in seeing the story come to life.

"It is a pretty amazing book and I've read it about three times," notes one of the novels biggest fans on Vimeo. "If all goes well, we'll all go see Carrie Pilby together, have some snacks and talk about how awesome it is afterwards."

This fan had her wish come true; "Thanks to all of you, our friends, family, and new friends who are fans of Caren's fabulous book, we have indeed reached our initial goal on Kickstarter," announced Independent Spirit Award winning Director Susan Johnson on July 10 via an update to backers of the campaign. "We can't wait to make the movie!"

Immediately, Johnson gave the project a stretch goal of $65,000 and it was reached within just 24 hours of the announcement. Currently, they have set the campaign's next stretch goal to $85,000 and things are already looking up. With just a few hours remaining in the Kickstarter campaign, backers and supporters must make their donations in exchange for exclusive rewards before Friday, July 12 at 9:00pm PST.
