SEATTLE, Nov. 9, 2017 /PRNewswire/ Millions of people around the world struggle with mild to severe food allergies. In recent years, food allergies have been on the rise and surprisingly, scientist are still unsure as to the reason. Kai Brown is a thirteen-year-old boy from the Seattle area that suffers from food allergies. He was diagnosed at age four with severe allergies to peanuts and tree nuts. After a series of life threatening events, including several trips to the Emergency Room, he is trying to make a difference by raising food allergy awareness to other children and parents around the nation.
His efforts started last summer when Kai and his family discussed ideas on how he could help other people, especially kids, with food allergies. Having previously self-published books on Amazon, Kai decided to write an educational book to share his stories. His first step was to raise money on Kickstarter to fund his project. To his family's surprise, he was able to raise $10,000 in just sixty days with the support of over eighty backers.
His book, Kid's Guide to Life with Food Allergies, has reached #12 on Amazon for food allergies books and has already sold several thousand copies. The book was even endorsed by several Immunologists, including Dr. Jon E. Welch, MD of Columbia Asthma and Allergy. Kai will donate all proceeds from the book to food allergy research and plans to donate many copies to clinics, schools, and bookstores across the region. He is incredibly grateful to all the people that funded his efforts and made this project possible.
