Bookstr Inc. is excited to announce their partnership with Room to Read, a not-for-profit organization determined to spread literacy and gender equality in education. In partnering with Room to Read, Bookstr will donate 50% of the site's book sale profits to charity.
Room to Read programs throughout Africa and Asia have benefitted millions of children across 10 countries. From their website:
"We work in collaboration with communities and local governments across Asia and Africa to develop literacy skills and a habit of reading among primary school children, and support girls to complete secondary school with the life skills they'll need to succeed in school and beyond."
Bookstr's mission to deliver opportunities for all readers and to help spread literacy globally closely aligns with that of Room to Read's. Their story and strong initiative to build literacy around the world is inspiring. The partnership is a natural fit for Bookstr Inc.
A statement from Sarah Hill, Bookstr, Inc. CEO:
"It's fun to be a part of something bigger than ourselves. We take reading for granted and forget about all the doors it opens. We are honored to help spread literacy with Room to Read in conjunction with consumer action. Our dedication to literacy is one of the many ways we hope to stand out amongst our competitors."
ABOUT BOOKSTR:
"Bookstr is a new multimedia website and app from the people formerly known as The Reading Room. With Bookstr, you can explore all things books in two different ways. On the app, readers can scout out their next read, share photos and quotes from your favorite books, and join a wide network of book clubs covering everything from Thai poetry to feminist sci-fi. On the website, you can read up on news, articles and essays on the newest book trends, view entertaining videos and podcasts, and exchange recommendations with others. Bookstr takes a look at literature, comics, poetry and publishing with a playful, examining eye in order to get good books off the shelves and into your hands."
