Serving the less fortunate for the love of God, Monsignor William J. Linder pens a significant book, "Out of the Ashes Came Hope: By Monsignor William J. Linder with Gilda Rogers" (published by Archway Publishing), which is written to illustrate how to change the status quo by leading the less fortunate to believe in themselves.

Set in Newark, the book is inspired by the author's founding of New Community Corporation, which has played an invaluable role in the lives of countless Newark residents. The corporation has been responsible for providing housing, access to affordable higher education, job training, employment, early education, health care and more.

"It gives the reader personal insight into what it takes to bring forth change. It's not about money, rather the reader will discover it's about love and commitment. Those were the seeds sown that changed despair into a new community," the author explains about the book.

A particular passage from the book:
At the age of 27, I had never set foot in Newark until the day I received my pastoral assignment. I had no idea what to expect. But because I believed in God's Providence, it resonated in me that Queen of Angels was where I was supposed to be.

Linder believes that with a vision, patience, passion and persistence anything is possible in life. "Hope is the most spontaneous prayer that exists and when the residents of Newark's Central Ward were imbued with hope and encouragement, they were empowered to build a new community for themselves," he adds.
