"CHRISTMAS COOKIES are for Any Time You Need Them" is the story of a very special tradition established between a grandmother and her granddaughter. Gramby and little Katie would bake and decorate Christmas cookies any time they needed to be comforted or to celebrate an event. As Gramby ages and begins to lose her memory, Katie turns to their beloved tradition to maintain contact with the grandmother she is losing.

"It presents a very warm way in which a grandmother and her granddaughter can build wonderful memories, and it is especially appealing to both old and young people who are experiencing a beloved family member who is now suffering from the loss of memory," Barnhart says, on the book's highlight.

Inspired from her personal experience with her mother who had dementia, Barnhart aims to remind readers of the importance of establishing special traditions with their grandchildren, and the hope and joy that such traditions may bring later in life.
