Never before have readers been able to get so much for so little-and do some good in the world at the same time. Book Bundles let readers choose the price they want to pay for a half-dozen or more books, and some bundlers take the book bundle even further by allowing readers to allocate a certain portion of their purchase price to charity.

For example, recently, Humble Bundle had partnered with WordFire Press to bring the world a science fiction bundle with books by some of the best established authors including award winners like Mike Resnick, David Farland, and Frank Herbert. Plus, up-and-coming authors like Cat Rambo, whose debut novel Beasts of Tabat releases on the same day as the Humble Sci-fi Book Bundle 2.

International bestselling author Kevin J. Anderson, the owner of WordFire Press, said, "I tried to give [the Humble Bundle] a nice balance between hard science fiction, fantasy, urban fantasy, and short stories. We've got some military science fiction in there, some fantasy romance, some ecological science fiction, and even time travel stuff."

In addition to Rambo's debut novel, the bundle features a story coauthored with progressive rock legend Neil Peart.

Bestselling author David Farland has received international acclaim for his Runelords series and has participated in book bundles before. Last year, StoryBundle.com offered a fantasy bundle loaded with bestselling writers such as Brandon Sanderson, Tracy Hickman, and Neil Gaiman, and recently, WeBundle.it did one that centered on award-winners of the Writers of the Future Contest, the largest worldwide fantasy and science fiction writing contest for new authors.

Being included in Humble Bundle's collection is a huge honor even for major authors. For instance, David Farland, who is currently negotiating a large movie deal, said, "Being in the company of such stellar authors is really rather humbling. Maybe that's why they call it Humble Bundle."

All of the authors involved have expressed gratitude for their participation in a bundle that not only increases exposure for science fiction books, but helps readers and authors contribute to charities in a meaningful way.

Humble Bundle's Director of Books, Kelley L. Allen, said, "2014 was our foray into book bundles and I would say it was a resounding success." Through book bundles alone, Humble Bundle grossed roughly $4.5 million with about $1.2 million of that going to charity.

The "Humble Sci-fi Book Bundle 2," presented by WordFire Press, is available now through April 15, 2015, at 11 a.m. PT. Check out some of the books offered, and keep in mind that more books will be "unlocked," depending on the price readers choose to pay:
