In "Heart and Soul Diner: Simple Sweet Treats to Share" (published by WestBow Press), Bonnie Jean Holmes' new cookbook, home cooks are guided through the process of how to make baking homemade treats an easy and pleasurable experience.
"Heart and Soul Diner" gives readers step-by-step instructions to prepare homemade treats to share with friends and family. Holmes shares her best recipes for cakes, cookies, pies and candy, and throughout the book she drops helpful kitchen tips on how readers can take their baking skills to the next level. Also included are creative ideas on how people can share their treats using baskets, plates and more. "Whether you are skilled in the kitchen or a novice, the recipes are easy to manage and are a crowd-pleaser," says Holmes.
"People started asking for recipes or telling me I should write a cookbook," says Holmes. "I finally decided that I should write a cookbook using simple, easy steps to bake."
Holmes says that many people are interested in learning to bake because it is a low-cost alternative to prepared, store-bought treats. "The book fits into today's society with tips on baking that make things go quick and smooth, and doesn't take time away from the family," she explains.
