When is a book not just a book? When it's the beginning of a movement.

In her genre-defying new book, "Seraphim" (published by AuthorHouse), Birdie Garcia ushers into light an ethereal yet hard-hitting look at humanity, everyday life and the boundaries of reality.

"It is a book that was not meant to be a book, but a beginning to a sequence," explains Garcia. "'Seraphim' is pulp fiction geared toward comic book fans and theology nerds. It is not meant to make any statement of society, religion or politics, but it does."

Centered on Garcia's flawed heroine, Faith, "Seraphim" takes readers on a nomadic odyssey through Faith's winding passage towards self-discovery. Described by Garcia as "punk rock" and "pre-apocalyptic," "Seraphim" takes a creative approach to the good versus evil plotline.

"This book is going to raise some eyebrows," says Garcia. "I want 'Seraphim' to be something that is either hidden away or triggers a cult following. I think the potential controversy will make the book's life an exciting one."
