Jill Watson Glassco, an inner-city Bible study instructor, has written a religious storybook for older children and teens in hopes that it will be a deterrent to immoral behavior frequently justified in popular culture.
"Secrets of Shiloh" is a Christian storybook and mystery novel that follows two teens after the death of an elderly World War II veteran whom they befriended. The teens journey through a labyrinth of cryptic clues to unlock hidden secrets that the old man left behind.
At the end of each chapter there are thought provoking reflections that allow for the application of biblical lessons.
"The biblical reflections are an excellent opportunity for families to have meaningful discussions about ethics and values," Glassco said. "My storybook is an excellent spiritual teaching resource for parents and even includes useful tidbits of U.S. history,"
Throughout the story, the two teenagers discover that the Bible can be used as a valuable problem-solving tool and a resource in everyday life.
Glassco believes that her book is at its best when read together by families and seeks to show readers that a personal relationship with God is the key to everyday happiness.
