The fascinating pictorial series, "A Pictorial History of the Northern Mariana Islands Part II: The Japanese Era" (published by AuthorHouse), continues with an innovative look at the history of the beautiful Mariana Islands through facts, figures, humor and original artwork by author Beverly Battaglia.
This follow-up book to "A Pictorial History of the Northern Mariana Islands Part I" begins with the Japanese invasion of 1914. The research covers 30 years of Northern Mariana Island history as the islands become a focal point during World War II and concludes with the American occupation of the islands in 1944. The book brings to life dry facts and adds a touch of humor to the grim reality of occupation and life during the midst of war.
Fans of "A Pictorial History of the Northern Mariana Islands Part I" will enjoy the informative style and witty humor continued in this sequel. Pamela J. Wheatley, an Amazon.com reviewer, praises Battaglia's first installment, saying, "I recently purchased this book directly from the author and was totally delighted at the approach she took to deliver a lesson on the history of the Island. A lot of tongue in cheek humor applied liberally helps one digest information on the beautiful Mariana Islands fun."
