According to author Bernie Lee (Yoder) Smith-DeBoe Americans pursue life and liberty through their religious freedom, economic well-being and self-governance that includes a basic understanding of the constitutional principles provided by the Founding Fathers.
In her new book, "Americans Knocking at Freedom's Door: The Uniquely American Heritage of Religious Freedoms and Government of and by the People" (published by iUniverse), Smith-DeBoe offers conversations and a historical exploration of America's Christian roots.
Smith-DeBoe explores the historical background of America's early settlers, describing what they endured and how they helped the country flourish for future generations. In this regard, the book also serves as a call to action for fellow Americans to unite together as one: "Our generation and future generations have to continue this path forward. Americans need to stand together as Americans," says Smith-DeBoe.
She adds, "We need to learn from the past in order to act on our current problems. Immigration, refugees from terrorist originating countries and political stagnation and political demonization have at least one common denominator solution. We, the people of the United States of America, can and should vote our principles to provide pathways for collaborated solutions. Fear and hate can and should be defeated by Americans standing together as Americans - Not as red or blue states and not as hyphenated ancestral birthers."
