In his new novel "Legacy of Shadows" (published by AuthorHouse), Bernard Spilsbury weaves a captivating story of a British family and a society divided by government policy.
"Legacy of Shadows" takes place in Cheshire and London during the decade of Margaret Thatcher's reign as Britain's Prime Minister. The main character, Geoff Mayer, an airline pilot, travels back in time to meet his ancestors and finds they're not to his wife's liking."
"The book is relevant to today's society because of the enormous interest in genealogy and because of the current debate on Margaret Thatcher's legacy," remarks Spilsbury, who also hopes his book sparks readers to investigate their own familial history.
"I'd like the readers to get a better sense of what the actual lives of their ancestors were like. History isn't just about the kings and queens and national policy-makers and other famous people. The anonymous ordinary people often suffered from the mistakes of those in power, but they had to live their lives and survive all that fate threw at them."
