Following the success of the kung fu historical epic Pang, Wandering Shaolin Monk, Xeric Award winning cartoonist, Ben Costa teams up with graphic novelist and Gospel of Bucky Dennis author, James Parks to release a twice-weekly fantasy adventure webcomic: Rickety Stitch and the Gelatinous Goo.
Available on their official website, ricketystitch.com, "Rickety Stitch and the Gelatinous Goo is a fantasy adventure webcomic about a skeleton minstrel and his trusty gelatin sidekick. Compelled by the mysterious memories of a long forgotten song, Stitch embarks on an epic quest to discover his origins as a walking, talking, singing, drinking, ne'er-do-well skeleton."
James Parks shares, "The tone of Rickety Stitch is more along the lines of Pendleton Ward's Adventure Time than George R. R. Martin's Game of Thrones, but employs an overall epic story arc over the episodic." Ben Costa adds "We really want to immerse readers into Stitch's world of Eem as a rich backdrop for character-driven, serialized cartooning much like Stan Sakai's Usagi Yojimbo or Jeff Smith's Bone."
Ben Costa launched his cartooning career by winning the prestigious Xeric Foundation Award, founded by Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles co-creator Peter Laird. He has released two volumes of Pang, The Wandering Shaolin Monk, and is also the winner of a Stumptown Comics Award. He recently illustrated cover art for an issue of TMNT: The New Animated Adventures for IDW.
James Parks launched his writing career by authoring graphic novel scripts and classic comic adaptations for works like Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's The Hound of the Baskervilles at Campfire Press. James also actively publishes horror fiction alongside the likes of Jack Ketchum and Ramsey Campbell as a member of the Horror Writer's Association.
To kick off the fantasy epic, Costa and Parks have published the first 16 pages of Rickety Stitch and the Gelatinous Goo Vol. 1, a story that will span 200+ pages. New pages will be posted on the website five days a week: two new pages every Monday and Wednesday, and blog posts that expand on the setting, characters, and histories of the world of Eem, every Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday.
