In "Anthology of Innocence: Stories from My Childhood" (published by iUniverse), author Barry Altman presents a collection of autobiographical short stories from his tumultuous childhood in New York City for a new generation to enjoy.
"I've had some very unusual experiences as a child," Altman reveals. "Many of these were key to the formation of my adult personality and belief system."
As an urban child growing up during World War II, Altman witnessed the destruction and paranoia firsthand. His autobiographical sketches capture the changing attitudes of adults and their projected feelings that Altman latched onto. Through his stories, Altman analyses his childhood dreams, his relationship with his father and his changing feelings as he grows from a boy into a man.
Many readers both young and old will be able to relate to Altman's stories of failure, fear and ultimately success. "Many people forget how their childhood affects their grown-up fears and decision making later in life," says Altman. "This book will allow them to think back about their own experiences that shaped their lives."
