Barbara Ruben Migeon has released her latest book titled "American Science: My View from the Bench" (published by Archway Publishing). Here, the physician scientist shares a rare, insider's account of university science and explores the issues women face as they try to balance work and life.

"American Science: My View from the Bench" begins with an account of how the author began her research career. It features just enough biographical material to provide the springboard for a broader discussion of what scientists do, what they must deal with and the changing face of biomedical science over the last half century. Although, relevant for men as well as women, the book considers the unique challenges women face as they try to balance work with other life choices.

Timely and incisive, "American Science: My View from the Bench" also offers up to date discussion pertinent to the future of American science, the relationship of science to public policy, the publishing business, women in science, the pursuit of equity, the new genetics and hereditary diseases.
