After witnessing many comical situations that children go through, author Barbara A. Pierce decided to embellish upon one particular story that explores a child's compelling journey to independence. Pierce penned a short story, "Sophie Virginia and the Little Red Boots" (published by Xlibris).

"Sophie Virginia and the Little Red Boots" tells the story of Sophie Virginia. Her dream of becoming a cowgirl is closer to being realized when she receives a short visit from her grandparents. The strong-willed four-year-old also learns a painful but valuable lesson during their visit. The experience is one she will certainly remember.

Taking place in an ordinary home environment with family, the story reflects charming interactions between children, parents and grandparents. Bringing life lessons common to most young children today, the author hopes readers will enjoy the family-oriented story.
