"Babies don't need fathers, but mothers do. Someone who is taking care of a baby needs to be taken care of," American film director Amy Heckerling once said. In Shakira Boone's newly published autobiography, titled Good Deeds Gone Bad, readers can follow the real life story of a baby who has changed the lives of a few women around her amidst corruption, lies, cover-ups and slander, and then readers will discover the startling truth about Heckerling's words.

Set in Set in Newark, N.J., the four main characters from which the story begins from are Kay, Lala, Nova, and Neicy. The memoir recounts two women strangers who meet for the first time. As one woman leaves her newborn baby, another takes care of the baby for over 10 years; and then they suddenly take her back. The book revolves around the true story of how Boone took care of another woman's baby without any money, nor help. Yet, she loved and raised her along with her twins for years. Suddenly, she is made out to be an unfit mother.

This true story is an eye-opener that may challenge or reinforce moral standards. It re-echoes age-old beliefs or strong convictions like, "Blood is thicker than water," "Everyone deserves a second chance," "You reap what you sow," and "Once a liar, always a liar." It also bespeaks the courage required and the beauty and liberating feeling of letting go. After all, as Alexander Graham Bell put it, "When one door closes, another opens..."

In this stunning story inspired by past personal experiences, Boone shares a troublesome period in her life to share valuable, life-changing insights and reflections about family and friendship, love and life, motherhood and more. Readers will surely be challenged to toughen up their spirit with life-changing lessons and learn to never give up and keep pushing forward because there will always be Good Deeds Gone Bad.

Boone simply wishes that readers take away nothing but the truth. "You never have to settle, lie down, and allow people with money, good jobs or power, to get away with the wrong they have done to you," Boone exclaims.
