The holidays are here, and STAGE TO STAGE: My Journey to Broadway by Josh Groban makes a fantastic gift for your loved ones--or yourself! Out tomorrow, the photo essay collection is a gorgeously rendered coffee table book brimming with photographs as Groban reflects on his journey to Broadway. From Chess in Concert to his album Stages to his recent Broadway debut in Natasha, Pierre, and the Great Comet of 1812, as well as photographs of various other events, Groban shares insight on what brought him to where he is now.
The format of STAGE TO STAGE relies heavily on photographs. Unlike many other Broadway coffee table tomes that take you behind-the-scenes of your favorite shows, there is very little writing. There are some great reflections from Groban and some nice quotes pulled from various publications, but readers shouldn't go into this expecting a memoir-style reflection.
Instead, the glory is in the photographs. There are great images taking readers backstage into Great Comet rehearsals, behind-the-scenes at the Tony Awards, talk show appearances, and more.
It was also really endearing to see how important Broadway is to Groban and how his Stages album came about. Groban also alludes to the fact that he'd love to record more such CDs. What went from a passion project became an album with a devoted following that fed Groban's soul. So, too, did being on Broadway, and hopefully Groban will return to the Great White Way in the not-so-distant future.
STAGE TO STAGE is available tomorrow, November 21st, 2017, at retailers such as Barnes and Noble and Amazon, as well as on www.joshgroban.com. Exclusively on the website, you can even get this beautiful, limited edition Deluxe Edition:
