Debut author S. M. opens the doors to her life as she shares how she rose above the never-ending cascade of trials and suffering she faced in her new book titled Behind Closed Doors. Liberating herself from her inner fears and standing for what she believes is right, she intends to empower women, especially mothers and children, who find themselves victims of violence and abuse. Through this poignant account, she aims to raise awareness on gender equality and women's empowerment.

Abandoned at 2 days old and raised in a violent household, S. M. was raped by her own kin for five years. She came to find her strength through her books, believing that someday, she will be relieved from the cruel, inhuman treatment she continued to silently endure. As with all kids, she prayed that a knight in shining armor will rescue her from her misery. She was heard but the relief she found was short-lived.

At, 17 she fell in love. At 20, she walks down the aisle with the man of her dreams only to find out her now-husband was a wolf in a sheep's clothing. Another round of abuse followed, beating her up physically, mentally and emotionally. Still, she had to survive, not for herself but for her two sons.

How the author finds and musters the courage to run away and raise her kids by herself while rebuilding her life once again, readers can follow in this harrowing, yet inspiring account that encourages women to break free from the chains of abuse and violence and support the movement towards a society where the rights and privilege of men and women are equal and respected. Behind Closed Doors is a moving and timely autobiography against the oppression of women and children the world over.
