"Summer Camp" (published by Trafford Publishing) continues the exciting adventures of Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner and Blitzen: those "other" eight reindeer that pull Santa's sleigh that are often little more than a footnote when compared to Rudolph, the red-nosed reindeer of fame. Author Michael McWade decided to change this and published his first book, "The Reindeer Chronicles: The Green Scarf," an award-winning children's book that follows their early childhood years.
Before they head off to Flight School, the reindeer are starting summer camp in the North Pole region called the East Arctic. There, they will be staying in a barracks, have various outdoor activities and play pranks on each other. McWade hopes children will grow along with the characters of the story, learning the importance of teamwork and tolerance, as well as improve their skills to face real world issues.
"Summer Camp" was runner-up at the London Book Festival, and received honorable mentions at San Francisco and New England book fairs. The book has been selected for inclusion in the Gold Seal program, which recognizes excellence in writing and overall potential. McWade is embarking on a marketing campaign to promote the book.
