Author to Bring Endometriosis Awareness & Education Home at Local Book Signing Image If you've ever suffered with pelvic pain, debilitating menstrual cramping, painful sex or infertility, you're not alone. An estimated 176 million individuals struggle with endometriosis, a disease characterized by the presence of tissue somewhat resembling the lining of the uterus found elsewhere in the body. For many affected by endometriosis, the pain and symptoms are so severe and debilitating that the disease significantly impacts every aspect of their lives. Despite being among the most prevalent of conditions, the enigmatic disorder remains poorly understood and is responsible for billions of dollars in healthcare, lost productivity and indirect costs each year. Long diagnostic delays, poor information systems and ineffective care are common. Although it can be difficult to talk about, Author Samantha Bowick, MPH is devoted to using her education and experiences to advocate for others by shining a light on the disease in her newly released book, "Living with Endometriosis: the Complete Guide to Risk Factors, Symptoms & Treatment Options."

Featuring a foreword by world renowned endometriosis expert Dr. Ken Sinervo of the Center for Endometriosis Care (http://www.CenterForEndo.com), "Living with Endometriosis" cuts through the persistent myths and misinformation that enshroud the condition. The book includes expert advice drawn from doctors and researchers, along with tips for recognizing symptoms and getting the most effective help possible at first signs of the disease. Determined to end the silence surrounding endometriosis, the author has bravely shared her long journey with the condition in her new inspirational book, so that others may learn from her experiences and connect to the important facts and resources necessary to help them to live full, vibrant lives - in spite of endometriosis. "Living with Endometriosis" offers up-to-date details on the latest hormonal and surgical treatment options, information for a broad, full-body approach to wellness, guidance on becoming an active advocate for your personal care, and valuable medical and community resources for endometriosis sufferers.

Ms. Bowick will be signing copies of her book on Saturday, June 9, 2018 from 11 AM to 4 PM in her hometown of Aiken, South Carolina at Books A Million, located at 2441 Whiskey Road. The author will be Joined At The event by Heather Guidone, the Program Director of the Center for Endometriosis Care, for an endometriosis discussion.
