Author Victoria Cilley's art primarily deals with the subconsciously felt presence of shifting systems of meanings that challenge and massage her. At its highest potential, it brings her to a point of re-situation in the most fulfilling sense. In each intuitive stroke towards the paper, she sees transposed fragments of Chinese and English symbols, once strewn along her mindscape, dissolving, fracturing and reforming meaning. She is given new confidence to proceed with the life path that emerges from the interaction of her continually hybridizing consciousness with the worlds she explore in which, it is also evident in all her written work.

In-Expressibility, a fictional novel tells the story of a girl who meets Xylia, a brilliant creature as she wanders the streets of Hong Kong one night. This creature claims that she recognizes her. But during her interactions with the creature and its fellow gynocentric revolutionaries who claim to be immortal visionary artists, she is colonized by their cause and assumes the identity of their new revolutionary leader without knowing what it entails.

At many instances, the girl's vision and reality no longer remain seamlessly interwoven and these ruptures eventually make her consciously realize that she may have been one of their many experiments: her vision had been a projection of a 'model consciousness' transposed upon her past. This sparks an internal conflict about what it means to be a voluntary participant of a revolutionary movement called INTENSION. Will they succeed in capturing her heart and soul? Or will destruction end it all?

In-Expressibility uniquely combines the colorful artwork of Cilley and an intricate storyline that goes perfectly fit for it. Readers will sure to be smitten by with how she was able to conceptualized, written and completed a fictional novel of this magnitude and all her paintings on it at the age of 22.

About the Author
Victoria Cilley Xue Ying, of American North European descent as well as Asian Chinese descent, lives in Hong Kong and enjoys Daoist poetry. She speaks English, Cantonese and Mandarin and thus is able to access many conversational and cultural references. She has also learned of, and is fascinated by, certain German and French philosophers. She graduated from Vassar with a Political Science degree, as well as several credits in Chemistry and Film Theory. She then became an independent writer for Asian professionals. Her work and writing addresses the philosophical yet pragmatic question: 'How does one relate to, contribute to, and offer security to those (s)he cares for?'. She is always hoping to gain extensive knowledge about the politics of consumption and territoriality. Her core values of 'health, productivity and trust' transcend average local cultural standards. These values were formed when she earned her Political Science degree from Vassar. She finished strongly at Vassar, with an array of substantial courses. Her studies emphasized a systemic approach to problems and rigorous social science research. She enjoys painting and dancing immensely and enjoys tennis, swimming, books, and Asian folk music when she relaxes. She completed this book 'In-expressibility' as well as the paintings it includes at the age of 22.
