In his new book, Heth, Ron Kaplan encapsulates the joy and sadness that comes with growing up and the workings of love in the lives of two seemingly different individuals. Readers will find both insight and entertainment in the coming-of-age novel's riveting twists and turns.

Seamlessly weaving together fiction and real-life issues, the story introduces richly drawn characters whose lives become irrevocably entwined in love and loss, trust and mistrust, pain and redemption. David Goldfarb, a star high school football quarterback who prefers to live in the wild side. David is the exact opposite of the dark-eyed Italian beauty, Mary Martino. Mary possesses an innocence that David has never seen before. Soon their paths will cross and will lead to a series of events that will teach each of them something about life and love; lessons that will change them forever.

By turns touching, poignant and ultimately unforgettable, Heth is both a parable of the bitter-sweetness of growing up and a story of broken yet real souls on a journey to find love, happiness and ultimately themselves. Kaplan's tour de force has the promise of being a classic in the young adult fiction genre.
