Born in 1987, Violet delineates some of her earliest memories of the love she shared with her parents and brother as a young girl. But when a dangerous military conflict in her country ignites during the early 1990s, the author and her family are forced to live under the constant threat of violence, which claims the life of her grandfather. After relocating to Australia and suffering abuse by her first husband, Violet must find a way to heal despite struggling with depression and suicidal ideations.
"I wrote this book in hopes that my story will inspire others who feel lost and alone," Violet said. "We cannot control our lives or what happens to us, but we can choose to believe in ourselves, we can choose not to give up when it gets hard and we can accept that we are broken but rise stronger and wiser."
Through her book, Violet hopes to raise awareness about key issues such as bullying, immigration and domestic abuse. A testament to the immense power of love, "Cinnia's Story" delivers an unflinching examination of one woman's perseverance and survival in the face of darkness and despair.
