Michael J. Kannengieser, retired NYPD police officer, New York native and author of the new police thriller The Daddy Rock ($19.95 Paperback 978-1-936085-63-7; $9.95 eBook 978-1-936085-64-4) will participate in Barnes and Noble's first-ever Local Authors Night at 7 pm ET tonight, April 17, 2013. This public event is being organized by the Lake Grove branch of Barnes and Noble bookstore located at 313 Smith Haven Mall, Lake Grove, New York.

The Daddy Rock is a tale of adventure, crime, rage, family drama, and the human capacity to cope and forgive. Told in a vivid, descriptive, and readable style, Michael takes the reader on an exhilarating ride in this human police drama with sympathetic, well-developed characters that will keep the reader turning the pages well into the night.

"What excites me the most about The Daddy Rock is the idea of confronting enormous challenges and conquering them," states the author in a recent interview with Decent Hill. "What each character must do is take action in the face of danger, sacrifice for others, and make choices for a better life for themselves, their friends, and their families."

Michael J. Kannengieser lives on Long Island with his wife and two children. He is a contributor to Criminal Justice News and can be heard on American Heroes Radio. He worked as the Managing Editor for Fiction at The View from Here magazine, a U.K. based literary publication. Currently, Michael is employed at a performing arts college as an Instructional Technology Administrator. He has been published at The View from Here, and in Newsday, a Long Island newspaper. He speaks as a guest lecturer on campus.
