U.K. native, avid reader and full-time mother tells the story of a boy who is swept away to a fantasy world and tasked with the difficult mission of saving it.
Author Heather Brading's novel, Joshua's Key, chronicles Joshua's improbable journey as he runs across witches, wizards, talking owls and walking rocks on his quest to save the world.
"For me, storytelling is about imagination and creating a place without limitations," said Brading. "Joshua's Key will appeal to anyone who enjoys escaping reality and discovering new adventures."
Brading was inspired to write Joshua's Key as a way to keep her children entertained and occupied during their afternoons at home. She improvised a fantasy story staring her three boys and continued to develop the plot as time passed. The more Brading developed the story, the more she realized her writing had the ability to teach valuable lessons and themes.
"Initially the book was a collection of stories I fashioned to amuse my children, using their names and personalities to create various characters," said Brading. "But after finally writing the stories down I realized I could not only write to entertain, but to educate as well."
