For centuries, fanciful storytelling has served an integral purpose - offering people a fleeting distraction from their everyday hardships. Today, even prosperous societies are constantly reminded by news media of the rampant war, hunger and strife across the world. Taking a cue from the fairy tales of Brothers Grimm and Hans Christian Andersen - two of his major influences - Glenn delivers traditional Irish tales in his 2011 short story collection "Sean and 'Himself'" (published by iUniverse), which will be featured in the 2013 New Title Showcase book exhibit.

Sean O'Reilly is a wee Irishman who loves just three things - sleeping, two Irish fingers of liquid refreshment, and telling tales about the adventures of Sean and 'Himself,' an eight-inch-tall leprechaun with an infectious grin and amicable nature that hide his cunning and crafty side. When Sean captures 'Himself,' his life is immediately consumed with just one goal - to get the leprechaun's pot of gold.

Sean's goal has been the same of countless mortals before him, so 'Himself' comes to the fight with a sneaky bag of tricks and a steadfast resolve which has protected his treasure for centuries. But as the adventure unfolds - and Sean and 'Himself share the stories and motivations with each other - they begin to let down their guard, building a profound friendship with each other in the midst of their adventures.

Glenn has a deep connection with leprechaun stories - with many Irish folktales, for that matter. "My Grandpa, Grandma and father were born in Ireland," he says. "They related many things that caught my fancy about the auld sod."
