Author G.B. Jones releases 'Saving Nia'

In her new book, "Saving Nia" (published by AuthorHouse), author and social worker G.B. Jones tells the powerful journey of a young girl whose family is torn apart.

"Saving Nia" is based on real events of children who have been placed in the child welfare system due to a legal determination that they were being abused or neglected by their parents. In this novel, the impact of removing children from their homes is unreservedly viewed from the child's perspective. Nia, the main character, suffers severe emotional trauma following the sudden disruption of her life with her foster mother, who raised her from infancy until the age of 6. She is taken away and placed into the home of her biological family, whose treatment of her is shockingly abusive.

Dramatic events with violent outcomes for members of her biological family are disclosed to Nia. She builds a barrier around herself as means of holding onto her "mother." As she moves into adolescence she attempts suicide, undergoes psychiatric hospitalization and re-entry into the foster care system in her perpetual struggle to find and be reunited with the woman who, to her, is her mother.
