He makes a living and skill out of telling lies, and with his most recent assignment, he needs to do more than that to come out alive. Author Fiona Donovan skillfully pens a compelling story of a man who engaged in an international game of cat and mouse, and now he is forced to face the consequences of his actions. The Pick Up is fast-paced and action-packed, giving readers a glimpse into the revenge, retribution and betrayals of backdoor deals made by the CIA.

John O'Bryan is American, in his 20's, single, and living in North Central, Mass. in the 1970s. He works under the CIA as an independent contract assassin. His next assignment requires him to work alone apart from strange unknown contacts. Ignoring his suspicions, he embarks on an unusual mission that takes him to Central America.

What should have been a simple, quick in-and-out assignment takes a bad turn, placing him in dire circumstances. He believes that his desire for vengeance months ago over a personal loss has displeased the CIA and has gotten him in his current situation. His notions are confirmed when he is taken captive in the inhospitable, unfriendly jungle region of El Salvador. He is at the mercy of his captors, one of the many ruthless bands of drug cartel rebels. Constant physical and mental torture leaves his body beaten and badly broken.

During his ordeal in the hands of the vindictive rebels, his mind jumps back to his past assignment and his efforts to extract revenge. Will he be lucky enough to survive this time? Containing graphic detail and strong language, The Pick Up will surely thrill readers who have a thirst for spy and intelligence novels.
