NAPW honors Deborah Hunter Marsh, Author, as a 2014 Professional Woman of the Year. Ms. Marsh is recognized with this presitigious distinction for leadership in Writing. As the largest, most-recognized networking organization of women in the country, spanning virtually every industry and profession, the National Association of Professional Women (NAPW) is a powerfully vibrant networking community with over 600,000 members and nearly 300 local chapters.
On her college graduation day, Deborah Hunter Marsh had the privilege of being recognized as Social Worker of the Year out of a class of 875 students. She has since enjoyed a nearly 20-year career in the field, developing many rich and rewarding relationships with her clients, and building a reputation as an effective Social Worker as a protector and guide for the many individuals under her care. Then fate stepped in and forever change her life.
During a routine knee surgery, Ms. Hunter Marsh contracted Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy (RSD), a rare disorder of the sympathetic nervous system, which left her unable to continue her practice. After 17 years of hospice work, both voluntarily and professionally, she retired. Instead of giving up, she became inspired to write a haunting and revealing biography about the sexual abuses she suffered at the hand of her Mormon Bishop father. She recently completed her memoir, Deliver Us from Evil, and is looking forward to having it published. She is currently working on a new and uplifting book about her personal experience as a hospice social worker titled Going Home.
Ms. Hunter Marsh has proven to all who know her that she is a strong and courageous role model. She continues to provide strength and inspiration to other women who have been personally touched by life's challenges.
