As a kid, author Carter Johnson has always been fascinated with vampire myths and legends and how they relate to the modern world. Also, he also wants to write about the neighborhood he grew up in and the friends he had there. The idea never properly gelled until he combined it with a vampire story he had been working on over a few years. He marks another milestone into the literary world with the publication of "Meadow View Road" (published by AuthorHouse).

In the summer of 2005, Nick Monroe awaits the return of his friends from their first year of college. As the teenagers descend on their old neighborhood, Meadow View, Nick and his friends become aware of the strange new family that has moved in down the block - a good-looking man and his new wife, along with his three daughters. They become the hot topic in the neighborhood. But Nick and his friends discover that they are not who or what they seem.

With its well-drawn characters and a fast-paced, gripping plot, this book will captivate readers with mystery and suspense while exploring loyalties in friendship and self-discovery as a part of growing up. The author also gives readers a different version of vampires as opposed to the cuddly and sparkly ones that can be found in young adult fiction these days.

"The novel is designed to be a throwback piece to the vampire stories of my youth, when the vampire was brutal and uncaring," Johnson says.

Carter Johnson was born and raised in Charlotte. He has been writing since he was in single digits. Trained as a screenwriter, Johnson found the experience lacking and shifted his attention from film scripts to novels. Since then, he has never looked back. He currently resides in Charlotte with his wife and a cat. Johnson is also the author of "The House on Dead Boy Lane."
