Author Barbara J. Hutson was inspired to write her new book "Knowing Horses by Heart: A Collection of Poems Written with Appreciation for the Horses in My World" (published by iUniverse), wanting to share the magic of horses with the world. She found that there was a gap in literature which addressed the realities of having a relationship with horses, and this is her way of filling that gap for readers.
"Knowing Horses by Heart," reveals the up-close and personal experience of having horses. The poems explore a gamut of emotions: the physical and mental labor, the thrills, the injuries, the admiration, the lessons, the heartbreak, and the overwhelming obsession of being smitten by them.
"I have a horse farm, Stillwater Farms, in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in North Georgia," says Hutson. "My horses are the creators of my experiences and memories as a person, and there is a quiet revolution taking place in proper horse care. Most books about horses tend to either glamorize horses or provide how-to manuals on care, training or riding, but my book delves deeper into actual human horse relationships."
