On Friday, April 19, food and garden writer Amy Stewart stops in Albuquerque on tour for her new book The Drunken Botanist. Stewart, the author of the popular gardening books Wicked Bugs, Wicked Plants, and Flower Confidential, conjures up devilishly delicious details and recipes featuring intoxicating plants in this new book.
Chapters chronicle the plants, mixers, and garnishes that compose our favorite alcoholic beverages, including agave, rye, barley and hops. The Drunken Botanist serves up a sweet concoction of Stewart's trademark wit and good natured do-it-yourself style, in a classy mix that is one part cocktail guide, one part natural history.
Stewart's Drunken Botanist event is co-sponsored by local independent bookstore, Bookworks, and the ArtBar/Catalyst Club, a membership-based night club that supports arts organizations in Albuquerque. The evening at ArtBar is free and open to the public, though VIP tickets are encouraged.
VIP tickets are the cost of the book ($19.95+tax) and include one copy of The Drunken Botanist, priority seating at the ArtBar event, and a Sip-and-Sign with Amy Stewart. VIP tickets are available at Bookworks or online at https://www.bkwrks.com/amy-stewart.
