Augustine Joseph juxtaposes modern imagery with biblical archetypes via poetic form in his latest collection, "Bible Stories and Contemporary Times in Poetic Lines" (published by Trafford Publishing), which is getting a renewed marketing campaign in 2013.
In a unique examination presented in verse, "Bible Stories and Contemporary Times in Poetic Lines" focuses on the connection between biblical stories and modern-day life. "Whether the subject is ancient or modern times, however, human nature and behavior have not changed very much; the lessons in the Bible are vitally important to everyday life now as they were when they were first written," Joseph asserts.
"Stop the Bully," featured below in excerpt, addresses the growing problem of bullying that many parents and children will be able to relate to:
"There's a serious problem now in our schools,
A few lawless kids won't obey the rules,
Every child should be free from abuse, you'll agree,
And not be controlled by any bully!
Bullies are emerging all over the place;
Some are even located in cyberspace!
Kids hate going to school, because of what they know;
The taunting from the bully they have to undergo!
Bullies instill great fear in the ones they target,
Take even their school lunches, and eat all of it!"
"I want my readers to be inspired, to become go-getters, banish doubt and feelings of hopelessness," Joseph writes. "Don't give up!"
Reflect on both the ancient and the modern with this unique compilation of verse.
