About the Author
Alan Crawford was born in 1970 and has been a huge fan of cars since he could crawl. He rebuilt his first car at 14 and has always loved late 1960's and early 1970's American muscle cars but his life would never be the same after he drove the 1983 AUDI Quattro Coupe. In 1990 he founded the Audi Car Club of America and spent much time with great folks involved in the development and racing of Audi programs and teams. It was a wonderful time to be involved with Audi as they developed record setting rally and road programs. Crawford has driven most, if not all Audi models since then and enjoys them all- but the R8 stirs the soul like the Quattro Coupe did in the early 1980s-only with horsepower one could have dreamed of then. It is the new generation Of Audis and the author hopes that this book helps provide a feel for what led to the continued development of the Quattro system as Audi has employed 30 yearsof motor sports expirence and put one of the most incredible sportscars into action.
