DENVER, Oct. 29, 2018 /PRNewswire/ Artifact Uprising, an e-commerce company specializing in premium photo books, wall art, and more, has partnered with Book Trust, a national literacy nonprofit. Artifact Uprising will pledge $1 to Book Trust's program for each sign up on their website, artifactuprising.com/give-books, to purchase books for Title 1 elementary schools across the nation. The initiative by the two Denver-based companies runs for the month of November, and the digital photo lifestyle brand does not require any purchase to participate.
"At Artifact Uprising, our purpose is to deliver joy, and we believe this extends far beyond the products we sell," said Maris Johansson, VP of Marketing at Artifact Uprising. "That's why we're looking to enrich the lives of our youth through the stories they read." According to Book Trust, children living in low-income communities average one book per 300 children. The organization helps children find their love for learning through books they can enjoy and keep. "We are so thankful for this partnership," said Tiffany Kuehner, President and CEO of Book Trust. "There are 16 million children living in poverty in the US, and we can help many more of them fall in love with reading by raising awareness through mission-driven companies like Artifact Uprising. By working together, Book Trust, Artifact Uprising, and their customers are inspiring joy for our children who need it most."
In the 2017 to 2018 school year, Book Trust provided nearly one million books to 55,000 students. The percentage of Book Trust students reading at grade level jumped from 31 percent to 59 percent. "While some low-income families have access to free books, the students may not find a book that they really want to read," said Ms. Brock, an elementary school teacher in the Book Trust program. "One of my students lights up every time she gets a book she chose herself. She has a love of reading that she did not have before, because she gets to read what she wants to read."
This partnership stems from Artifact Uprising's desire to expand on Giving Tuesday the Tuesday following Thanksgiving. During the month-long campaign, the company hopes to reach their donation goal of $10,000. Johansson states, "We wanted a whole season, not just a day, of sharing and giving the gift of books. We've long admired the work Book Trust does, and we're thrilled to play a small part in supporting their critical mission."
