Andrew Mahan, a new and passionate author, has completed his new book "The Forgotten Things": a gripping and potent series of short stories. In each tale a forgotten thing finds a new purpose and each one learns to love every part of themselves, even the parts that might not be perfect. In their own way, in their own time, each of the toys learns that nothing is so broken that it cannot be mended.
Early in Andrew Mahan's life, art became a favorite outlet. It became his only way of coping and healing until later in life when he would develop a love of writing, dancing, and singing. After high school, Andrew began a career both as a principal dancer for several dance and theater companies as well as a featured soloist with orchestras from around the Greater Chicago area. Andrew has worked as a choreographer for several youth, community, and professional theater companies as well as some local high schools in his home town of Rockford. In 2012, Andrew and his mother Ellen opened Gateway Performing Arts Studio in Rockford as a way of using their passions to inspire and educate students in the arts. In 2010, Andrew began writing "The Forgotten Things", which is actually a collection of stories based on Andrew's own life. As a child, Andrew was a victim of molestation. Then through childhood, middle school, and high school, Andrew was bullied both verbally and physically for the way he looked, talked, and any other reason people could find. After all, "There is nothing so broken, that it cannot be mended."
Published by New York City-based Page Publishing, Andrew Mahan's powerful tale will touch the soul of all who read.
"The Forgotten Things" takes place inside an unparticular, unspecified, and seemingly unspecial little toyshop. Within this toyshop, there is a corner where broken rejected toys are placed. These toys were unwanted by their owners and so were brought to the little toyshop to be resold. "The Forgotten Things" is a collection of stories about these unwanted forgotten toys. Each toy represents an internal struggle of the human heart such as, self-loathing, warped self-image, depression, loss, and loneliness. Together, these forgotten things represent the desire to find our purpose and a place to belong.
Readers who wish to experience this inspiring work can purchase "The Forgotten Things" at bookstores everywhere, or online at the Apple iTunes store, Amazon, Google Play or Barnes and Noble.
