Ancient Chinese Text Helps Present-Day Children Shape Bright Futures

M. Shayne Gallagher has studied the Tao Te Ching and its translations for over 30 years and has worked with challenged teenagers using the very ideologies presented in the Tao Te Ching. He has used these values in his work with challenged kids and seen great success over the span of his 28-year career.

“I began a serious study of the Tao Te Ching as a teenager and have used its precepts in treatments settings all my adult life,” Gallagher said. “After I started working in the mental health treatment field I found that the principles in the Tao Te Ching could apply to treatment programs and its patients. I wanted to share my ideas on a broader scale and thus decided to write the book.”
