'Anchor in the Past' by Ealum McDonald is Released

Chattanooga, TN

Forgiving those who have wronged you is no easy feat. Forgiving one parent for killing the other is nearly impossible. For author, Ealum McDonald, this level of forgiveness could only be achieved with the help of God.

In "Anchor in the Past: A Chart for the Future," McDonald shares intimate details from his childhood about his father's abuse and the violent death of his mother. When his father is sent to prison, McDonald and his siblings are moved to Tennessee to live with their grandparents.

McDonald lived many of his teenaged years consumed with hatred for his father. It was not until his employment at a church that he sought the help of God.

"I want my readers to know that God's grace is necessary to help them forgive," McDonald said. "The book applies to anyone who needs to forgive someone. Forgiveness helps the person doing the forgiving, not necessarily the perpetrator of the injustice."

While inspiring and encouraging others to seek spiritual guidance and tolerance, McDonald is also working toward earning his B.A. from the Covington Theological Seminary.

About Ealum McDonald

Born in Michigan, Ealum McDonald grew up in a violent household until the age of 14 when he moved to Tennessee to live with his grandparents. After a string of jobs, McDonald is lead to the Church of God Publishing House where fellow employees help him deal with his anger and find God. Today, McDonald works as a teacher's assistant with the Teen Challenge of the Mid-South, in Chattanooga, Tenn.
