Fran Fischer has always had quite a sense of humor, but it wasn't until Wayman Publishing discovered her in 2012 that she realized how much her humor would be enjoyed through her written works. On May 28, 2013, her first novella "Fishducky's Fables" became a bestseller on Amazon, ranking among the top thirty bestselling fairy tale books. And it was perfect timing too, since the audiobook was just released earlier this week.
Sheila Book, the narrator for "Fishducky's Fables," began her career in broadcasting in 1993 as a Video Editor. While working full time for the NBC/FOX affiliate in Dayton, Ohio, she was also launching into radio as an On Air Personality for WXEG (The Edge). Eventually Sheila went on to dominate the night airwaves (7-mid) at Classic Rock Station WTUE. After 14 years on Dayton TV and Radio, she made her way to SWFL where she was in her first movie (Disney's Confessions of a Shopaholic) and entered into Voice Acting. Not only has she been a spokesperson for The Ritz Carlton and Zoom Tan, she's produced quite a few audio books including 11:11 Time Prompt Phenomenon: The Meaning Behind Mysterious Signs, Sequences and Synchronicities and Paleo Breakfast Recipes.
Ms. Fischer and Ms. Book have teamed together with Wayman Publishing to release an audiobook that is sure to delight many readers. Critics and authors alike have already begun praising Fischer's debut novella, giving it five out of five stars. Respected author Carol E. Wyer wrote, "It has been a long time since I have laughed out loud at a book, let alone guffawed throughout one, yet this collection of humorous tales, each with a modern twist, had me in stitches."
Inger Wiltz, an avid reader, rated this hilarious novella five stars as well, writing, "I read this book and fell down the rabbit hole of the author's brilliant imagination. While in that other world of Mad Hatters and Cheshire cats, I encountered all the fairy tales from my childhood, altered ever so slightly to fit into our modern world, which, after all, contains as many scary folks as the fairy tale witches and evil Queens. While down in that hole, I learned that the Princess of The Princess and the Pea, sleeps on mattresses ordered from Sit'n'Sleep; Alice finds a cheeseburger, fries, and a Diet Coke next to the Eat Me, Drink Me signs; the Cheshire cat wears dentures (of course, why didn't anyone see this before); the Ugly Duckling tries to get on the TV show What Not to Wear; the Tooth Fairy family sells tooth necklaces on eBay and starts a business called ToothFairiesRUs, and so it goes."
Fischer has an uncanny way of making even the most mundane situations hysterical. And with Sheila Book narrating the audiobook, this is sure to be one audio listeners will want to hear over and over again. Join Rapunzel, the Ugly Duckling, Snow White, Chicken Little, Alice in Wonderland, Beauty & the Beast, Robin Hood and many more beloved characters in this hilarious short story collection that will have readers and listeners laughing out loud.
